Sorting Attic Strings

The twenty alphabetic characters other than the aspirate sort in the same sequence as the corresponding characters in the Ionic Greek alphabet. The aspirate (rough breathing), punctuation, editorial characters, and white space are omitted from consideration in ordering Attic strings.

Examples: sorting with the aspirate

Consider the ordering of three Attic strings APO, HAI and BOLE.

Examples: sorting with quantity markers.

Consider the ordering of the strings BOLE and BOLES, in relation to the valid strings with quanity markers BOLE_ and BOLE_S.
